What Is Wrong With The Setup?

By windows 7 Posted in: windows 7 drivers

I was given an old laptop that I could watch DVDs on. I tried to play one and I got an error message saying that the driver was set to region 1 and the disk was region 4 and that I could only change the driver region one more time. So I tried to update the drivers since the last update was done in 2001. But there was an error and the update couldn’t be done. So I decided to install windows 7 (the laptop was set up with windows xp) from an ISO file someone gave me that I had used for another laptop so I know it worked but I tried to run the setup file and I got an error message saying:
Windows could not collect information for [OSImage] since the specified image file [install.wim] does not exist.”
What is wrong with the file and what can I do to fix it?
Thanks in advance :)

the region setting for a dvd drive is a value that is set inside the drive
it is there because dvd’s are sold to play in certain countries and it is illegal
to play buy them in other countries. but pc drives allow for 4 changes to it.
in case you go to another country
it has nothing to do with drivers whatsoever.
you can set the value by right click the drive icon in my_computer
    and choose properties
    click hardware
    click the drive
    choose properties
    click dvd region
as for you other problem with an ISO file how about trying to
decsribe what you are trying to do a bit better
