How Can I Use My Ati Radeon X1600 To Watch Hd Movies ?

By windows 7 Posted in: windows 7 drivers

On another system i have a Geforce 8400GS and after installing all the latest drivers i was able to watch HD (1080) movies on youtube with my only 50% CPU usage and i have an old Celeron D (Cedar Mill ) processor.
On another system i have an ATI Radeon x1600 video card and i read that it also supports HD video decoding yet after installing the latest drivers i still have a lag viewing movies on 1080p.
The first system (the one with Geforce video card ) has Windows XP running while the other has Windows 7.
So how can i use my Ati Radeon X1600 video card to view HD (1080p or near to it) movies on Windows 7

Im sorry to tell you this but the card just simply cant handle rendering video on that resolution it can display up to that resolution a still image but once it starts rendering video its just to much the card only operates at 397Mhz with 256MB of DDR2 memory. in essence the hardware is simply not powerful enough. overclocking could be an option. but no vast improvement would be made, it may support HD video but its a play on words anything above standard resolution can be considered HD
